The table is where life unfolds, friendships flourish, ideas and conversations take flight, and families are forged. It’s where we are seen, known, and loved. Come to the Table will inspire us through design and education to create gatherings around our own tables which encourage conversation, invite lingering, and evoke a sense of God’s grace and belonging.
“Come to the Table” will present a masterpiece of table settings curated by some of Blowing Rock premier designers, all with an eye toward creating a sense of togetherness, beauty, and belonging. This event is more than just a visual feast. Beloved author Ruth McKeaney will share her secrets for making any house—from the simple to the sublime—feel like home. As Ruth puts it, “The ability to make others feel loved, welcome, and cared for…is one of the greatest gifts we can give.”
Get to know Ruth here, and join us on August 15, 2025. We’re saving a place at the table for you!
Proceeds will benefit The Build for Good Foundation which supports relief efforts from Hurricane Helene’s ravage in Fall 2024 in hard-hit areas of Watauga County. Repair and rebuilding efforts with local skilled tradesmen and the power of prayer. “See a Need, Fill a Need.”
Ruth McKeaney is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Virginia, and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney. Ruth and her husband, Bob, are now raising their five children on their restored historic farm in Berwyn, PA. Hillside Farm was featured in the books Stone Houses and Theology of Home and has been exhibited in multiple home tours. They have flipped many historic homes over the last two decades and joyfully lived in each one of them. They have company more often than not in a given year.
As a constant host (to literally thousands of people over the years), Ruth goes to the heart of what makes one feel at home. Every day, her goal is to make her home a safe place so her family and her guests have the opportunity to have deeper needs met. Intentional homemaking, in its most idealized form, is creating a setting where vulnerability and honesty are valued and protected, where understanding and grace are fostered and love freely given.
It’s time to recover the richness of community that’s been lost in the hustle and bustle of today. We can still slow down. We can still prioritize our family and friends over our “to-do” lists. We can still find beauty in the midst of chaos. We can still sit around the table with bowls of pasta and laugh until two in the morning.
The Build for Good Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Watauga County, NC. We are dedicated to supporting communities in need.
On September 27, 2024 the Blue Ridge Mountains were rocked by Hurricane Helene in an unprecedented weather event. The widespread flooding, landslides, fallen trees and tornadoes left a path of complete destruction stretching across the region. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we immediately went to work in our own community; feeding people, distributing supplies, powering up community centers, clearing roads, repairing culverts and salvaging homes.
Now in the sixth month of recovery, our efforts are focused on rebuilding homes and neighborhoods with volunteer teams from all over the country. We are working with local community agencies and other nonprofits to stretch every donation we receive.
100% of our funds are going toward Hurricane Helene relief in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia. We are seeking your support in our goal of raising $2 million to aid in the extensive restoration work that lies ahead.
Join Come to the Table to support The Build for Good Foundation in their work to provide families with everything they need to make their houses a home.
